January is National Radon Action Month!

Radon is a colorless odorless gas that comes from rocks and soil and can accumulate in a home. Prolonged exposure can cause lung cancer. Its estimated that 40% of homes in Minnesota have elevated radon.

There are 2 sources for free radon test kits:

If elevated radon is detected, the City of Minneapolis has Health and Safety grants to help remediate.

Student Loan Repayment Starts in October!

Student Loans are scheduled to go into repayment starting in October.  

  • If you have federal student loan debt, its important to review your account at https://studentaid.gov/

  • To make sure you have the lowest payment possible, run the Income Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan simulator:  https://studentaid.gov/loan-simulator/

  • Apply for an Income Driven Repayment plan here:  https://studentaid.gov/idr/

MN Tax Rebates are coming soon!

Taxpayers will not have to apply for this payment. The MN Department of Revenue will use 2021 income tax or property tax refund returns to determine who is eligible and issue payments in early fall:

·        $520 for married joint filers who had a 2021 adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less 

·        $260 for all other filers who had a 2021 adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less 

·         An additional $260 per dependent, up to three dependents, for filers who had a 2021 adjusted gross income at or below the thresholds above 

Payments will be directly deposited into bank accounts associated with your 2021 return, or mail to the address on your 2021 return.
